Starlight Sangdan (별빛상단) (the “Operator”) operates https://www.fork-coding.com (the “Site”) and protects users’ personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea. This policy explains what information the Site collects, why it collects it, and how it is handled.
1. Personal Information We Collect
- Google sign-in: name (nickname), email address, profile image URL, and the account identifier of the sign-in provider
- Sign-in session: session token, IP address, browser information (User-Agent), and session expiry time
- Comments: the content of comments you post and the time they were posted
- Likes: a random visitor identifier stored in a browser cookie. This value is not linked to your name or email address.
We do not collect your sign-in provider password, contact details, or payment information. You can read posts and papers and leave likes without signing in.
2. Purposes of Collection and Use
- Identifying comment authors and displaying their name and profile image
- Verifying permission to delete your own comments
- Preventing duplicate likes and counting likes
- Preventing spam and abuse (rate limiting of posts)
3. Retention Period
- Account information: destroyed without delay upon account withdrawal (deletion request).
- Comments: destroyed when the author deletes them or when the account is deleted.
- Sign-in sessions: retained until they expire.
- Visitor identifier cookie for likes: kept in your browser for up to one year.
4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
The Operator does not provide users’ personal information to third parties, except where required by law.
5. Outsourcing of Processing and Cross-Border Transfer
To operate the Site, we entrust the processing of personal information to the following companies.
- Supabase Inc. — database hosting (storage of accounts, sessions, comments, and likes)
- Vercel Inc. — website hosting and request handling
- Google LLC — sign-in authentication
The servers of these companies may be located outside the Republic of Korea. Information is transmitted over the network when you sign in or leave a comment or like, and it is retained for the periods described in Section 3. If you do not want your information transferred abroad, you may choose not to sign in or post comments; you can still view all content without restriction.
6. Procedure and Method of Destruction
Information whose retention period has ended or whose processing purpose has been achieved is deleted from the database in a manner that cannot be recovered.
7. Your Rights
You may at any time request access to, correction of, deletion of, or suspension of processing of your personal information. Requests sent to the contact below are handled without delay. You can delete your own comments directly on the Site.
8. Use of Cookies
The Site uses cookies to keep you signed in (session cookie) and to prevent duplicate likes (visitor identifier cookie). You can refuse cookies in your browser settings, but in that case you will not be able to use the sign-in and like features.
9. Security Measures
- All communication is encrypted with HTTPS.
- The database blocks public API access and is accessed only from the server.
- Access rights are limited to the Operator.
